From a small town, a big heart

I was born and raised in Kathua, a town that lives close to the border and close to the land. Growing up, I saw families around me face quiet struggles — a child dropping out of school, an elder without warm clothes in winter, a village without clean drinking water. Nobody famous ever spoke of these things, but they were real, and they were right next door.

That is where my journey began — not with a grand plan, but with a simple question: “If not me, then who?” My first act of sewa was helping one family, then another, then an entire lane. Over time these small, quiet acts grew into organised drives that now reach villages across the district.

I do not believe in loud gestures. I believe in showing up. In repairing a roof before it rains. In making sure a bright child has a new uniform. In standing beneath a tarpaulin with a doctor, a volunteer and a queue of hopeful patients.

What drives me

Three values guide everything I organise: dignity — never making someone feel small for accepting help; accountability — transparency in every rupee and every kit distributed; andpresence — because true change needs someone who stays.

Today, alongside an expanding circle of volunteers, I run education support, free health camps, winter relief, cleanliness drives and dignity programmes for widows and the elderly. None of it is possible alone, and all of it belongs to the community.
